The P4s have had a great first few weeks settling into P4.
All the children were very excited to come upstairs to Primary 4 and explore their new classroom. We have introduced our new topic, Superhero in Our own story, where we have all been getting to know each others’ skills and amazing uniqueness. Our topic is linked to Charlie and the Chocolate by Roald Dahl, which the children have very much enjoyed. We have learned all about Charlie’s family, his love for chocolate and the exciting news of Charlie finding a Golden Ticket! We created music in groups which we imagined would be played in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and the children have also baked chocolate muffins which they iced and took home, there were many happy faces as we mixed all the ingredients together.
In Literacy we have been focusing on learning proper nouns and common nouns, and we have been challenging ourselves to learn abstract and collective nouns. The children did a great job in sorting all the nouns into the correct box. We then used our knowledge of nouns in our Taught Writing session.
In Numeracy we have been developing our understanding of place value and telling the time. The children have been very focused during numeracy and many have been challenging themselves to work with larger numbers.
Well done to all the new P4s for being such great role models, keep up the hard work!
