P6 have been having lots of fun applying our knowledge of measure. We have been learning how to calculate area and perimeter. After practicing using these new formulas, we then took our learning outside to measure various things outside to calculate the areas and perimeters. We even measured the perimeter of the whole school! We then moved on to exploring volume and capacity. We did lots of activities, including estimating and measuring capacities of glasses and calculating the volume of the classroom. We also learnt the formula for volume and applied this to different cubes. Our application task was we had to build a garage for a house, knowing the size of the cars. We had to use the size of the cars to calculate the length and width of the new garage, then calculate the area and perimeter. Lastly we had to convert the measurements from millimetres to metres.
