This term P6 have been learning about the Scottish Parliament and elections. We have been sketching the parliament building, learning about democracy and even devolution! In order to learn about the election process, we are running our own. It started when we received a task from a secret organisation; Making Scotland better. We had to come up with ideas of how we could make Bridge of Don better. From our ideas, we created a survey for our community to see what they thought they wanted to change. We surveyed the local shop workers, our parents, teachers and classes in the school. We interpreted the results and identified 5 main issues; which formed our 5 political parties. From then, we have created party names, logos and mottoes. Then, we had to create our own manifestos with accompanying action plans of how we were going to make a difference. Our next step was to share our ideas and start campaigning! We have started making posters, badges, party political broadcasts and are all looking forward to our election in 2 weeks time. We are all really passionate about our issues, and want to make a difference. Stay tuned to hear our election results!
